2025 Spring Youth Hockey Programs

Spring 3v3 – Advanced

Weekly 3v3 half-ice games help players develop hockey sense and maximize puck touches. The advanced program is for travel hockey players and house players with at least two years of winter hockey experience.

Mondays,  March 31-May 19 (eight weeks)

4:30 pm Group 1: 2016, 2015, 2014

5:45 pm Group 2: 2013, 2012, 2011

Please have a light and dark jersey available for use.

Spring 3v3 – Beginner/Intermediate

Mondays, March 31-April 21 – 7-8 pm (four weeks)

This 3v3 half-ice program is for players transitioning out of our Learn to Play Hockey program and newer house hockey players (less than two years of experience).

Birth years 2017-2011

Cost: $104

Termite and Mite Spring Session

Wednesdays, April 2-May 21 – 4:15-5:15 pm (8 weeks)

Open to 2020-2016 birth years who have winter termite/mite house hockey experience, or Learn to Play participants who have a recommendation from the hockey director or Learn to Play coaches. 

Players will build on skills they learned during the winter session and participate in a variety of drills and games aimed at improving forward and backward skating, stick handling, passing, and shooting.

Spring Dynamic Development Program

These clinics are for travel players or house players who have at least two seasons of experience. Learn to Play participants interested in this program should consult the hockey director prior to registration. Dynamic Hockey Development Clinics are led by coaches Ted and Val Moody.

Ted Moody: Ted grew up playing hockey starting at the age of 5. Throughout his hockey career, he played on various state hockey teams in Colorado. Ted brings over 45 years of experience and knowledge to the ice and enjoys helping players learn and love the game of hockey. Ted is heading into his 9 th year as a coach at Glacier Ice Rink, working with hockey players of all ages and abilities.

Val Moody: Val brings over 25 years of experience as a licensed athletic trainer, focusing much of her career on sports safety, injury prevention, and concussion management in youth athletes. She has been a part of the Glacier Ice Rink community since 2014.

On Ice Development:

  • Skating Technique: Focus on stride efficiency, edge work, balance, and agility.
    Drills include forward and backward skating, transitions, and edge control.
  • Stickhandling and Puck Control: Practice handling the puck with precision and
    maintaining control under pressure.
  • Passing and Shooting: Refine passing accuracy, shooting mechanics, and
    decision-making.
  • Game Sense and Strategy: Develop tactical awareness, including positioning,
    offensive and defensive strategies, and situational play.
  • Battle Drills: High-intensity drills that focus on positioning body contact and
    overall compete.

Off Ice Development

  • Strength, Agility, and Conditioning: Implement a program focused on building
    core stability, strength, agility, plyometrics, and neuromuscular control.
  • Flexibility and Mobility: Incorporate stretching and mobility exercises to
    maintain joint health and prevent muscle strains. Dynamic stretching routines are
    included.
  • Warm-Up and Cool-Down Protocols: Establish effective pre- and post-practice
    routines to prepare the body for activity and aid in recovery.
  • Body Mechanics and Technique: Educate players on proper techniques to avoid
    injuries, including proper body positioning, and safe, effective body contact.

MAHA and Northern Plains Development Camp Prep Clinic

Tuesdays, March 25 – May 13, 6-7 am

Open to birth years 2013+. Must have travel hockey experience.

Cost: $216, goalies $100

Spring Goalie Clinic / Shooting and Scoring Clinic

Thursdays March 27 – May 15, 6-7 am

Open to birth years 2013+.

Cost: $160

Bantam and High School Spring Hockey

Sundays, March 30 – May 18; 4:45, 6, and 7:15 pm start times (8 weeks)

Open to 2012-2006 birth years.

Bantam and high school players can wind down from the winter season with weekly games every Sunday evening. There is no checking allowed in the spring program, which allows younger players to improve their skills against more experienced players. Bench coaches are volunteers who will keep the focus on fun.

Players must register for programs based on their birth year. Please read the description for the program to determine which program they may register for. Some exceptions will be made but must be approved by the Youth Hockey Director.

Players will need a 2024-2025 or 2025-2026 USA Hockey number to register for spring programs.
