The Missoula Area Youth Hockey Association, the nonprofit that operates Glacier Ice Rink, held its annual meeting on June 15, 2022. The highlights of the meeting included:
The 2021-2022 season by the numbers and financial report from Laura Henning, Executive Director. Download the handout.
The rink’s three main goals for the upcoming season:
- Retain participation in programs, while adding opportunities for skill development and engagement among participants (hockey clinics, social events and more themed skating sessions)
- Maintain a healthy financial position through increased community visibility, participation and support (more focus on marketing and social media)
- Celebrate our 25th anniversary by honoring the past and looking forward to the future
Introduction of current board members and welcome to new board members, Marco Littig and Burke Holmes. Recognition of returning board members Jean Zosel and Hannah Stone, and a thank you to outgoing board members Shelly Otis-Moran and Derek Kellenberg.
Overview of changes to the MAYHA bylaws and board structure by Ryan Yearous, board president and Jean Zosel, board secretary.
Discussion of the plan for a new, year-round ice rink and upgrades to the current facility, bringing us to three ice sheets in the winter. This will require a combination of public and private funding. MAYHA is working with representatives from Missoula 4-H to request that the County Commissioners place a general obligation bond on the November ballot. The first step is to garner community support by signing a request letter that will be submitted to the Commissioners.
