Zamboni name announced
With 47% of the 652 votes, Glacier Ice Rink’s new Zamboni is now named “Rose.” The name was submitted by Rich Haines, one of the people who was instrumental in starting the Missoula Youth Hockey Association and Glacier Ice Rink in 1997. Rose is the name of his mother, and was one of six finalists chosen by a naming committee consisting of four long-time rink volunteers and staff.
Rose made her official debut at the Missoula Jr. Bruins game on September 14 and will be in regular use on the indoor rink. The Zamboni ice resurfacing machine was obtained in August after a fundraising campaign raised more than $60,000 of the $100,000 cost.
