2 to 6 pm
Feeling inspired by the Olympics? Join us February 17 from 2 to 6 pm for our Winter Games “Try” Day. This is your chance to try out the ice sports you’ve been watching… for FREE!
Curling will run on the outside rink on a continuous basis. Please wear comfortable clothes and sneakers (boots don’t work as well). Folks from the Missoula Curling Club will teach you how to throw stones and will provide all the equipment you need. Children over the age of eight are encouraged to participate, but must be with an adult.
Curling session: 2 to 6 pm
Missoula Figure Skating Club members will be on-hand to teach the basics of skating. There are two sessions that can accommodate up to 75 children and adults. Each session runs 30 minutes, with 20 minutes of instruction and 10 minutes of free skating. Hockey and figure skates are available to rent at no charge and helmets (bike or ski) are recommended. Remember to wear socks!
Skating sessions: 2 to 2:30 pm and 3:30 to 4 pm
Both children and adults can learn how to stick handle and pass in these two sessions. Each session runs for 30 minutes, with 20 minutes of instruction and 10 minutes of free time. There is a maximum of 60 people per session. Rental skates are available at no charge, and we have a limited number of sticks and helmets to use. If you have a bike or ski helmet and heavy gloves, please bring those.
Hockey sessions: 2:45 to 3:15 pm and 4:15 to 4:45 pm
Sled hockey allows mobility-impaired people to participate in hockey. Players sit in a sled and use sticks to propel themselves across the ice and handle the puck. We will have a limited number of sleds available for anyone who wants to try. This session runs an hour and you can drop in during that time.
Sled hockey session: 5 to 6 pm
Please arrive 20-30 minutes early to sign up for the session you would like and get fitted for equipment. Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. You will need to sign in and complete a waiver. Parents must sign for children under 18.
